"Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment" – Jim Rohn
The above statement is very much true because without it, a dream will remain just be a dream. Discipline is what enables a person to do things in a very orderly manner making sure all the details are taken into consideration. In business, aside from skills and intelligence, discipline is one big factor that distinguishes a leader from the others. It’s a trait that all great leaders have in common.
Chinese business tycoons, particularly those who are self-made, have a well known habit of always being punctual in the office. Aside from that, they’ve got a reputation for strict discipline especially when it comes to money matters. They see every detail about the operations of their business, and prefer to be a hands-on leader. Discipline starts with planning how to make an idea into reality and is carried all throughout a company’s operations. It adds efficiency to a process that makes less waste both in terms of raw materials and labor. All businesses, from startups to established corporations should have this trait. Even big companies that are doing well should practice financial discipline. Those who have this trait don’t rely on luck to succeed. They know that it’s very important to work hard and perseve all the time even if in the end they don’t get the results they want.People who have discipline don’t get bored with their daily routine. Aside from the dedication that they give to their ventures, most of them also don’t have any vices. You definitely won’t see any of them ending up in an alcohol rehab. It’s a trait that they’ve integrated into their daily life. You can see it in everything that they do, from the way the interior of their house looks to the way they dress up.
If the business owner has discipline and his employees always notice it, they will be likely to respect him as a leader. People follow the orders of a person whom they respect. He doesn’t need to force his will on them or motivate them by offering them excessive perks as rewards. This is why it’s very important to have this trait.
